Kickoff To The Official First Month of Summer!
Story by Ashley Alt
Happy first weekend of June, Lexington ladies and gents!
Warm weather is finally here to stay, which means…three-day weekends, patio season, grilled everything and sunshine for the next three months.
We hope you had a nice short workweek, as it’s already time to give you the roundup of what to expect on your approaching days off.
Up this weekend? Tim McGraw, West Sixth Brewing Tour, a comedy show and running-for-a-cause event. Check out the details below, plus some bonus to-dos if you don’t feel like being social.
Tim McGraw & Faith Hill Concert
Country music’s favorite couple is going to be right here in our neighborhood Saturday. Performing at Rupp Arena at 7:30 pm, the heartwarming duo will provide concert goers with an entire night of serenading, entertainment and inspiration. Tickets are ridiculously affordable. Grab them here.
West Sixth Brewery Tour
Recurring (free!) Saturday tours at this craft brewery + taproom + beer garden makes for ideal summer Saturday afternoons that never get old. Head over to 501 W. Sixth St. at 4 pm (perhaps before catching Tim and Faith?) to taste the rotating microbrews on tap with your favorite drinking buddies. Register here.
Dash for the Donuts 5K & 10K
In honor of National Donut Day Friday, the community is holding its first annual Dashing for the Donuts virtual race, and wants YOU to be a part of it! At least 15% of every registration goes toward the Action for Healthy Kids organization, whose mission is to spread awareness on the importance of healthy eating and physical activity within schools. Read all about it here.
Looking to be more low-key this weekend? Take Saturday or Sunday morning to peruse the local farmer’s market downtown (Saturday) or over on Southland Drive (Sunday). Show local businesses your support by stocking up on fresh fruit and vegetables, along with delicious homemade bread and other pastries. Click here for more details.
If you’re looking for some peace and quiet, take a stroll or bike ride at Veteran’s Park. Bring your dog, your family, or your friends and set up a summer picnic. And If you’re really looking for some solitude, get there at sunrise for a solo yoga or meditation session.
There you have it, everyone. Enjoy the weekend and don’t forget your sunblock!
